About the Artwork
Created in 1987, "Baby in Cradle Chair" is an evocative and masterfully layered original fine art serigraph (screenprint) by acclaimed artist Joseph Kapelyan. Belonging to the same creative era as his celebrated "Family Album" cycle, this print captures an intimate, nostalgic portrait of a baby resting inside a traditional cradle chair. The composition beautifully blends deep generational memory with historic, turn-of-the-century structural themes. Rendered using the rigorous serigraph printmaking method, Kapelyan builds rich, dense color layers and sophisticated textures that call to mind his signature Daguerreo-Romanticism framework—evoking the deep psychological gravity, silver-and-sepia patina, and sweeping emotional resonance of vintage studio photography.

About the Work
Executed in 1988, "Old Jew with Books" is an evocative masterwork from Joseph Kapelyan’s critically acclaimed "Family Album" cycle. The canvas is rendered in Kapelyan's legendary "Daguerreo-Romanticism" style—a distinct aesthetic framework famously coined by art critics to describe how his textures recreate the moody, silver-and-sepia patina of vintage 19th-century daguerreotype plates while channeling the intense psychological gravity and emotional romance of classical painting.
