About the Artwork
Ginevra de' Benci (After Da Vinci) is a sublime, hand-painted master copy executed by contemporary artist Joseph Kapelyan. Created in 2023, this 50×40 cm oil on canvas painting pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s groundbreaking 15th-century portrait of the Florentine aristocrat. The piece masterfully honors Leonardo's historic development of sfumato—the subtle, smoky blending of tones and shadows that softens the contours of the face. Framed against the iconic, dark juniper foliage, Kapelyan beautifully captures the austere dignity, porcelain skin tones, and luminous psychological depth of the original Renaissance masterpiece, offering an exceptional acquisition for fine art collectors.
