The Secret of Art
Why do we love a specific artist, poet, or composer? For the originality of their works, for their authenticity, uniqueness, and dissimilarity to others.
Have you ever seen how two women look at each other in a social setting upon discovering they are wearing the exact same dress?
Banality, sameness, the clichés of thought, views, and tastes—this is the worst characteristic a human can have. Banality stupefies, degrades, and enslaves. Behind banality lies subjugation and militarism. The armies of all nations are built on this very principle. It begins with outward uniformity, with a uniform, and ends with standardized thinking. The standard is the banner of the philistine.
Malevich’s Black Square. How many lances have been broken in debates and controversies over this work by Malevich! And it is a mere 80 by 80 centimeters, a canvas covered in black paint—and painted over, at that (there was another artwork underneath it). So why all the fuss?!
This is precisely where the entire secret of art lies. Malevich made such a square first, and there is no second square like it in the world, no matter how hard you try. Epigones can now create a million such squares with different variations, but Malevich will still remain the first.
Yuri Gagarin was the first to fly into space; thousands more may follow him, but Gagarin will forever be the first.

За что мы любим конкретного художника, поэта, композитора? За оригинальность его произведений, за их самобытность, неповторимость, непохожесть на других.
Вы когда-нибудь видели, как смотрят друг на друга две женщины в обществе, обнаружив себя одетыми в одинаковые платья?
Банальность, одинаковость, банальность мышления, взглядов, вкусов — худшая из характеристик человека. Банальность оглупляет, унижает, закабаляет. За банальностью стоит порабощённость, милитаризм. Армии всех стран стоят на этом принципе. Начинается с внешней одинаковости, с униформы, а кончается стандартным мышлением. Стандарт — знамя обывателя.
«Квадрат» Малевича. Сколько копий сломано в дискуссиях и полемиках об этой работе Малевича! А всего лишь 80 на 80 см, покрытый чёрной краской холст, к тому же ещё и закрашенный (под ним была другая работа). Так почему же столько шума?!
Вот тут-то и кроется весь секрет искусства. Малевич сделал такой квадрат первым, и второго такого квадрата в мире нет, хоть ты тресни. Эпигоны могут теперь сделать хоть миллион таких квадратов с разными вариациями, а первым всё-таки останется Малевич.
Юрий Гагарин первым вылетел в космос, а за ним пусть будут ещё тысячи, но навсегда Гагарин — первый.
